Mosta Dome Church in Malta

Photograph: This photo was taken of the Rotunda of Mosta, Malta. This enormous domed church is located in the center of the town. It is the third-largest unsupported dome in the world. The Rotunda of St. Marija Assunta, as it is properly called, was nearly destroyed in World War II – a bomb even fell through the dome but did not explode – but it survived the onslaught.
